Thought had this cell thing kinda figured out, but a few hrs of T&E has nullified that thought.

Cant get rid of extra cell space/s at right of thread list display (scrnshot attached).

Been working with forumdisplay_thread and forumdisplay_threadlist but not much luck.

Suggestion on good place/s to re-start ?

You need to edit your table header and check the colspan values for various rows.

Reset 'colspan' from 3 to 1, that did it.

Starting to think have done more than enough goofing around with this stuff (php, css, html, etc), and might be a good idea to try some sort of online tutorial on the mix.

Just seems like might be helpful to be a little more aware of the general terminology and logic behind the processes.

But then, also have my day job, so may take a while.

Good simple/efficient place to start ?

Learn HTML then CSS.
Neither are hard to learn and shouldn't take long.  I recommend ALL webmasters know at least HTML.
