I am a chef by trade. What i did before i do what i do now. So yes i can cook. But still don't see how it relates to plugins on a free forum script? You are paying for the food the restaurant paid for including the chef they are paying. Nothing is free. How is that anything like using a FREE forum script. But you keep trying.
Well I still don't see what the unbolded part has to do with it. Yes zinga shares and explores new ideas, but you said that I come here to get those ideas and to charge for them. That's what you said there.
If the restaurant had free food, would you not eat it just because it's free? What I'm doing is an analogy, thus a lot of things can be applied to this case (downloading free plugins). In this case, they offer food and you eat it even though you were a chef and cooked it for money. Applies to what you described above: I download plugins for free even though I can code them.
The one place i worked at for a number of years had a bar as well. During happy hour we would provide free eats. Also would stay and do it on my own time for other occasions as well. I did it as a way of saying thanks to our loyal customers. Same with the people who owned the restaurant. Maybe it is me but i am still missing your point with this analogy. This actually gets to my point of why not sell My Points? That's your big plugin and thus main thing. Understand what i am saying? Charge for that and use the others for a happy hr type thing. All you guys would have to do is make it known that if your work is shared elsewhere that they will no longer get support at your site and nor will they be able to download stuff. Yes the GPL says the code must remain open BUT it does not tell you how to run your site. Understand what i am saying? Sure there might be a person who still releases it but i think you know how that will be viewed by others.

Yes you're missing the point. The point is not the bar. You would cook in exchange for money but you could also go to a restaurant (imagine the restaurant was free) and you would food for free which was not cooked by you. Same for me, I can download plugins from here for free even though I make paid plugins.

The reason I won't do that it's because the point of NewPoints is to be a free points system but the best points system as well.
While MyPS plugins are paid, NewPoints plugins will always be free and so will be the core. (except plugins which generate income like "Buy Points with PayPal") This is what I want for NewPoints.

Seriously? I am still not fully up on what that stuff does and or the point to it. Not saying there is no point in it ( obviously is or wouldn't be in such demand ) i guess i don't understand how something like that would be used. I have never been a member at a site that uses that sort of thing. I just know it adds a ton of stuff to your site. After reading ( and even seeing in some cases ) what i have about labroccas work i wouldn't use it anyways even if it was free. I'll admit there is a part of me that does not trust him either which yes is related to the fact he runs a hacking site. Not saying he would intentionally do something but it will always leaves a doubt and that is all i need. Same would apply to anyone else who ran a similar site. Why i believe as well that MYBB needs to remove themselves as much as possible from him. They can try and explain it to the cows come home ( which they constantly do to defend it ) but most don't or wont care. That is the worst thing to do. But that gets back to the problems with them. In either case i am glad you are there to provide a option.
Personally i would release whatever it is that the site needs ( Buy Points/Pay pal.. I guess that is what it is for?) so it can make money. That way they have income to help with paying you for other things. MYBB should actually have that in the core. Paid subscriptions or whatever it is. I think it would help bring in more business type sites and as well those who live off of donations. Ofcourse i think this is the plan for 2.0 if i recall correctly?
