Cannot do basic arithmetics in the Moderator Tools » Edit Thread Tool?

i am looking to do some basic arithmetics in the Moderator tools:

Modify Custom Thread Field(s):
field=({VALUE} +1)

increment the value?

and in addition, it stopped working, new values are no longer saved

It's a text field, of course it's not going to randomly start evaluating stuff.
The field may or may not support conditionals though.

It doesnt and somehow it breaks that particular setting
