I found that canonical.com have a sub-domain as jackass.canonical.com.

It's probably just a server name.
why some want a subdomain or server name like that?! Moreover when it is a organisation like canonical..
may be someone had created that free url linked to ubuntu site. what is the wrong in it?

if canonical.com provides free domains, you too can create one (fatass.canonical.com) and link to ubuntu archive site

I did not knew that they provide free sub domains..
i havent checked the canonical.com link before. seems to be it is the ubuntu's property and working for ubuntu. so they had used that subdomain to direct to the archive page
Ubuntu is developed and maintained by canonical ltd...
