There are billions of information about css and html in google, we (leefish) has already told you what to type in. If you doin´t want to help yourself just rip it off, it is not like I´m going to send the cops to your room.
It's between Lee and I.... OK ?
Well, it's not actually between anybody apart from just you now. I think you are maybe off on the wrong foot. The expectation on this board (as far as I can tell) is that you do have some knowledge of CSS and HTML and are willing to work at it to get what you want.
When I first started using XThreads I could just about make a div in a template. And it didn't validate
However, I worked through the examples here - the articles layout is an excellent introduction - and then I tried to make my board validate. So I read at the W3 schools and looked on the internet and finally after about a year and a half I can make a nice template on my own - and make sure it validates.
You want a sharp menu for your board - there are LOADS of tutorials on how to achieve a nice menu - you just need to look through them.

If you work through some of those and go back and look at the source code using your Firebug addon for Firefox then you will see how it is done.
