Idea for an XThread Forum

I have a new idea for an XThread forum that I need to create...

Car of the Month Voting Forum!

The forum would need a cool layout, room for up to 10 contestants (photo and description of member's vehicles) and a place for the voting poll!

This forum would be only for Admin and Mods to post in but all members can view it and vote, of course.  I would have another forum to accept entries before the voting poll is created.

I'm looking through RateU's example list for something I could adapt, but this may be a good candidate for a whole new example!?!  It could be built as a regular voting forum...not necessarily for car forums.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Also.. the template is different for stickied and non-stickied threads.

Yes, I was following that!  I am going to start with the "Thank" plugin and see if I can use it for voting...that would be easier than creating a new poll every month!  How did you get the list to show with total votes?  That is a cool feature!

If it is only a simple vote/rate, may I know what's wrong with the default thread rating?

I thought about the rate thread system...but I need the voting to be more unique than the standard rate system.  Just a matter of preference, really.

well, you can change the text in the rating values in an XThreads custom template. You can't change the stars though I think.

If you feel it is better to use the Thanks plugin for this application, it is fine.
I don't know exactly how your system and Skiilz system works, so, I can't give much opinion at this time.
Maybe try to create a simple one first, then, try to enhance it.

I'm not quite sure what your answer is here. I am saying that I think you can't change the stars for just one forum. Of course, you are free to doubt what I think. I don't state it as fact.

Depends on how we want to change it. If we want only to make it as vote button (that's what I think about the vote thing talked here, I've stated it that I don't know exactly how their system works), and not as rate (1 - 5), I think we can do that (maybe in showthread, and have a different button for each forum).
