Custom Thread Fields
I've just browsed the net, and fond this thread:
http://xenforo.com/community/threads/sug...http://xenforo.com/community/threads/suggestion-custom-thread-fi

We are lucky for having XThreads, right? Although XThreads isn't a built in feature of MyBB.

RE: Custom Thread Fields
Totally agree RateU - XThreads is why I still use MYBB.

RE: Custom Thread Fields
I don't think any forum system has custom thread fields by default, although it makes a lot of sense IMO.  Stuff like post icons seem redundant when you have custom fields.

The thread you posted does show that GARS is a similar system, but for vBulletin: http://www.thevbgeek.com/geekmart.php?do...http://www.thevbgeek.com/geekmart.php?do=displaypr
Not free, so can't check it out (could try obtaining it through other means, but really can't be bothered), but it seems to be more targeted at being easy to use rather than being as powerful as XThreads.

Surprising that there really isn't even plugins of similar nature for other forums, then again, I came up with the concept of XThreads myself (only just recently discovered GARS).

RE: Custom Thread Fields
Even in an introduction forum, I use at least one custom thread fields Biggrin
In a global ways, at least users can use it for thread prefix and thread description.
For a bit specific area, the thread above tells us how flexible a custom thread fields for (price, URL and etc).
We don't need to install separate plugins/add-ons just for having some custom fields for various purposes (if it is available as a built in feature).

RE: Custom Thread Fields
MyBB 2.0 definitely should include this in core, even if it is only a minimum way (ex. non template prefixes).

RE: Custom Thread Fields
Absolutely - I think that if this concept was included in MYBB as a core module (ie the user can choose to switch it on or off) then it would really put mybb on the map as far as forum software is concerned. I realize that the point of a forum is discussion etc, but in todays web good looks and customization are important too, and the ability to make your board look different and still have discussion is a major plus.

RE: Custom Thread Fields
Yeah. Thread is not just a thread anymore (just about subject and message). If we have an ability to add more info needed for our forum, depends on the users decision (in a very simple way, just like the custom profile fields, which is many forum software has this feature), why not?

RE: Custom Thread Fields
Using xThreads can save us the trouble of installing many other softwares, like image galleries, youtube galleries.

You don't even need to use your mybb forum as a forum at all anymore.

I do like vB far more that what I like XF, but if they implement custom thread fields for sure I could consider it over vB without a doubt.
