tp_forumdisplay_threadlist different display at forums under same category ?
Deleted previous thread after question became more complicated (at least for this diy forum software beginner) and needed to add more question info to the thread.

'display_threadlist' (template_prefix_forumdisplay_thread same, except for some deletions) is displaying different for some (same custom thread fields) forums, under same category, than others.

At one point the 'New Thread' button was not displaying at one of the forums (scrnshot attached) under the same category, so deleted the forum, then re-added the forum and that corrected the display (ie added back the 'new thread' button/image).

Now } --> is displaying (scrnshot attached) at some of same forums but not at others (some with threads and some not)... guess could have been caused by control_v (--> ) when editing code (for some reason have caught myself doing that a couple times), but not sure where the } came from... or even if the control_v contributed to it.

And why would show at some forums and not all ?

Have compared forum settings at...
ACP ยป Forum Management/View Forum
...as all other forums in category show the new thread button, so thought it might be a forum setting, but all seem to be identical.

Think have checked all the forumdisplay_ templates and forumdisplay.php code... but obviously missing something.

Slept on it (couple nites), but still no luck, will try again tonite.

Anything that might put me in the right direction ?

Assign the template prefix to each forum (if you assign it for the category only).

The } --> sign appears in your XThreads application forums only (that have a template prefix) or for non XThreads forums only?
If it's in your XThreads application forums only, check your custom template, especially if you're using something like <!-- .................. --> to comment out some code.

Thank you for the reply and narrowing-down-the-search suggestion.

All forums in the subject category are identical xthread_field forums and all have have the same tp_.

Did notice that, after adding a few more test forums at the xthread_fields category and the non-xthread_fields category, the --> only showed up at the xthread/tp_ category forums.

Looked at all tp_templates and could find no spare --> or --&gt;

Did notice that when post an xthread_field forum, with the problem, the forum the display becomes  } --> -->  instead of just  } --> after post a 1st thread, and becomes  } --> --> --> after post a 2nd thread, etc... so must have something to do with a post template ?

Have tried to comment out {$variable}s in the past, and couldnt do, but cant remember if it left a  } --> or not... also dont know if happens when comment out a <div>  </div> or <a>  </a> etc with a {$variable} in it.

But, of course, when post to an identical xthread_forum, in same category, where the } -->  does not initially appear, it does not appear when add additional threads.

Assume need to go back and look at tp_templates, but since it is somewhat sporadic, is there maybe something else should be checking ?

Thanks again for your help !

Dig through HTML, identify where it's coming from exactly and modify respective template.
Insert junk in templates if you're struggling to find the whereabouts of it.
