Problem with attachment module.

Basically i cant get the attachment module to work properly.
i keep getting this error.
Please enter a valid ID!
I have tried different variations of the Attachment/Post/Thread/Forum ID
for example.
aid=17
attachment.php?aid=17
attachment=17
#=17
and so forth. All seem to give me the same error.
Any help will be appreciated.
