Update:
Use Settings Overrides for the Force Postbit Layout settings in create/edit forum settings (for both layouts):
  • Settings Overrides:
    • Setting: Showthread Options -> Post Layout
      Value: horizontal

      Code:
      postlayout=horizontal

Hi RateU,
Just wanted to let you know that Thumbshots has changed their code for free thumbnails to:

Code:
<img src="http://images.thumbshots.com/image.aspx?cid=my_url thumbshots_code&v=1&w=[Width]&url=[URL]" border="1" alt="Preview by Thumbshots.com" />

My link images do not work any longer with your thumbshot coding, can you help me?

Try replacing the old url in your xtldir_forumdisplay_thread and xtldir_showthread templates:

HTML Code
http://open.thumbshots.org/image.aspx?url={$GLOBALS['threadfields']['xtldwww']}

with something like this:

HTML Code
http://images.thumbshots.com/image.aspx?cid=your_url_encoded_api_key_here&v=1&url={$GLOBALS['threadfields']['xtldwww']}

Not quite sure how your setup because you don't explain it. Usually, you need to wait for the thumbnails to be cached before it is displayed.

after signing up for an account on thumbshots.org and making the changes that rateu mentioned above, the thumbnails started working for me again after about 20 minutes.

RE: link directory...can someone make this?
I need someones help. I want to do away with my thumbshots service and just have my own individual gif image for each of my links. I was thinking of creating a folder in images and take a screen shot of the homepage of each of my links and store them in lets say:
/images/links/
How can I do this where it will know what image to pickup for each of my urls? I'm guessing naming the image the url ....plus the extension .gif

......and for the record the reason I want to do away with the service is, thumbshots has been screwing around.....they give you a 5000 hit limit and then want you to upgrade to a pay service. They suspended my service until I upgrade. If I knew I was getting activity on my site, which I'm not, I would gladly pay for the service......but I know for a fact that I am not getting that type of activity with 10 - 12 active users. They must be counting the BOT and Spider hits.

Thanks and I appreciate if you could help me out.....just remember, I need baby steps...nothing overly technical please Tongue

I thinm you can add a File custom thread field type so you/your user can upload an image for the link(?).
