Custom Profile Fields: Not parsing URL/HTML
Not parsing URL or HTML in a Custom Profile's Textarea

I've installed the following plugins: XTPF, TplCond-1.7, xThreads-1.63

I was operating under the belief that they would allow me to automagically parse a URL in a TextArea created in the Custom Profile Fields.

I need the "Custom Profile Field" to parse html.

I select Textarea

I select "Allow HTML" radio button in the Custom Profile Fields

This URL should automatically parse and be a live link and it's not.

If I just type the following URL into the text box of the editor it automatically is converted into a live link that takes me to the website.
http://www.contourcorsets.com/

"Allow HTML" means to me that this should parse but instead I see raw HTML code.

Again, "Allow HTML" if I understand the expression means that I should be able to insert HTML and the plugin renders the HTML into a correct text and link just as if it was a signature or the standard box/field for Website

I honestly don't know how to explain this any simpler.

Please help me.

RE: Custom Profile Fields: Not parsing URL/HTML
I tried this on my own site (also using this plugin) and I added http://www.example.com and it made a link. I dont have HTML enabled. I added http://www.example.com. It made a link. I cant help you fix what I cant reproduce.

RE: Custom Profile Fields: Not parsing URL/HTML
I tried deactivating and reinstalling XThreads and realized that the XThread Plugin doesn't cause the URL to parse in the Custom Textarea I created.

This additional plugin is what creates the parsing of HTML in Custom Profile Fields

XThreads is required for this plugin

Now that I understand which plugin does what I'm reinstalling them and making sure I do so in the right order. I've installed Conditionals and XThreads and the customization area for XThreads in where you would expect it. Now I'm going to reinstall and activate the xtpf plugin and see what happens. That has to be where the problem is because that is what in the instructions it says parses the HTML in the Custom Profile Fields.

I'm also going to test by turning of the site HTML to see if there was possibly a conflict between that and the plugin.

Auriel

xtpf plugin is not working in the Custom Profile Fields like it is supposed to.

LeeFish, If you didn't create the URL in a Custom Profile Field then your test is meaningless. You in fact haven't followed the specific steps that I have taken, which I might add are not complicated, and so your results of course wouldn't reproduce the same result as mine.

Auriel, if you think what I say is meaningless then let me give you a tip - stop HOUNDING me to help you. I have no idea what you are trying to achieve.

The TEXTAREA you are creatng is a textarea for a user to type information into. If you want to use HTML put it in the templates.

I'm scarcely HOUNDING you personally. I've been begging for help from anyone that is willing. Your statement makes the assumption that I even know what a Template is much less how to modify one to achieve what I have asked about. The plugin should be working but doesn't that's all I know. As for not understanding what I want? I've discussed this issue with people that are completely computer illiterate that understand that I've used Custom Profile Fields to created a textarea for Corset makers information and that I at least want hyperlinks placed in the Textarea to be active. The xtpf plugin installs radio buttons for activating HTML in the Textarea but isn't working. How much plainer do I need to be than that? I'm not a programmer but I can read directions. I'm also smart enough to know when I'm completely out of my element and need the help of people that are better educated and experienced.

I've offered to grant access to my site so that somebody, anybody with expertise can take a look at the problem and suggest what to do. With all the energy you've put into humiliating me in front of everyone here and in the MyBB community you could have simply taken a look at what I'm doing and given me advise or fixed the problem. I've even offered to pay you for the time. Instead of honestly helping me you have chosen to castigate me. I'm a 57 year old behavioral scientist and in this case I'm not the one with an attitude problem here Leefish.

Now since you won't do anything constructive to help can you refer me to someone that can and will help me or that I can pay to help me?

Example of asking other people for help on the same damn subject.
