MooTools vs. jQuery vs. ???
Anyone here speak javascript?

MooTools:
...I miss me some Mootools. I mean no Native JSON support in jQuery? C'mon......

In response to the "Widely adopted" response, we all know OSCommerce is the most "Widely Adopted" shopping cart, and we all know what a pile of shit that is. I'm in no way comparing JQuery to OSCommerce. I'm simply pointing out the faulty of "Widely Adopted" response.

jQuery:
...Larger community means more support, more examples, more good ideas, and more reusable code snippets, which is especially important when you're working on a rare scenario -- more likely someone else has encountered it before.

Secondly, in benchmarks I've seen, jQuery is faster than MooTools.

source *2 = Why is jQuery so widely adopted versus other Javascript frameworks?

and MyBB uses?
What is up with that 'Protoplasmic thingy'.  Clown
"Prototype" appears to be a video game and doesn't rank high in Google without the word 'javascript' attached.

Prototype is a JavaScript Framework that aims to ease development of dynamic web applications.

FYI: The debate over here is intense and (somewhat) interesting:

Edit:
So is MyBB "stuck" with Prototype?
Would the coding involved with changing be 'massive'?
It's all 'just Javascript', Prototype must have some strong positives, right?
Is Prototype the AOL of javascript frameworks?

IMO Jquery is best over javascript. Xenforo completely built on Jquery an look how good is that.
MyBB 's using of Prototypeis mainly because Jaquery was not introduced when MyBB started its project. So in future I firmly believe that MyBB dev.s should work in Jquery too for building applications of MyBB.

I'm sure jQuery has been suggested for MyBB2.0, but don't know anything about the debate or current status.

Yes may be. If they go Using it, I'm sure people will love to use MyBB then. But who knows MyBB 2.0 out ? as 1.4 has been changed to 1.6 after 2 years Tongue

If jQuery didn't provide a conflict solution with prototype, then all MyBB users can't use it 'till 2.0 released. Glad that jQuery has the solution for handling the conflict. But keeping it as unobtrusive is one of the most important thing I think.

Prototype and mooTools seem to be older and jQuery relatively new and gaining popularity.
Personally haven't used these libraries much, so I don't have much of a personal preference.

Is Javascript (without a 'library') another of your languages, which you use often?

...or the "old-fashioned way." They can't use PHP to update the copyright code on their aging website?

I've used both, and jQuery is easy to use & modify;
MooTools I haven't done much "messing" with, yet.
