I agree it's "meat for the locals."

On the other hand, it does give them publicity...

Publicity doesn't help much if you have 1000's of people transferring away their domains.

Godaddy, in general, will be interesting to watch:
Pre-2008: Clearly #1 / A 'Healthy' valuable, privately-held company.
Post-Recession: Many people who would have kept renewing __ number of domains, suddenly are short on money.

Last year (mid-September) Godaddy is looking for a buyer.
  • Will the domain 'industry' ever fully recover?
  • In ~5 years will Godaddy still be #1, or will they be like MySpace?
