Thread Tooltip Preview
Author Message
Displays a basic preview of a thread in forumdisplay/search in a tooltip.  The tooltip acts like any standard tooltip - it will be shown after the mouse is hovered on the table cell containing the thread title.  (will also do it for thread title text itself if the user is not a moderator, in which case, the "click and hold to edit" will override the thread tooltip)

This will also display a tooltip preview for the last post, when the user hovers the mouse on the last post cell in forumdisplay/search (note, this doesn't work for the forum index).

Note: this plugin assumes that you're using the UTF-8 character set everywhere (which MyBB somewhat assumes anyway).

As there are clearly a lot of people who don't read the above, I will say this differently.  This DOES work for moderators and administrators, however you need to hover the mouse on the TABLE CELL for it to appear (not the actual thread link).

RE: Thread Tooltip Preview
The plugin will try to find this code from your forumdisplay_thread template:

HTML Code
<td class="{$bgcolor}{$thread_type_class}" style="white-space: nowrap; text-align: right;">

If you change it, you need to put {$thread['lastpostpreview']} variable manually in the template.

RE: Thread Tooltip Preview
Ah ok, worked, thanks.
BTW, is it also planned to be added to sticky threads and last post in forumbit?

MyBB treats sticky threads no differently to normal threads in this instance.

Uhhh, I noticed, unluckily debugged with wrong information as result. It also doesn't display on some normal threads and last replies, mostly on those made by Owners (yellow) for example here: http://board.twcclan.org/forum-59.html but on some topics they have it ok. Same about Regulators/Supporters/Admins groups. Other groups work as they should.

Why? Would be most useful there in my opinion.

It's really up to you to make it work along with the other custom modifications you've made...

If you think that, you're free to add it in yourself.

Why that kind of replies? Have I said anything bad? Sorry if so, but I just tried to share my problem and thoughts about new feature. I'm not a PHP coder and I didn't make any modifications except using some other plugins. What kind of plugin could cause it?

RE: Thread Tooltip Preview
Adding it to the forum bits will require queries, I think, at least one. Probably better one extra plugin. Maybe that is why ZInga Burga answers like that. You need a plugin for that Destroy666.

Support PM's will be ignored. Yipi

Was there something wrong with my reply?

Anything that affects the display of threads on that page has the potential to.

RE: Thread Tooltip Preview
Well, replies "do it yourself" without any explantation by developer are kinda new for me.
As for plugins, I guess only Style Usernames and First/Last post avatar by Tomm affect forumdisplay page. Disabling both didn't help. Or can plugins with much less influence like Google SEO or Tapatalk be problem?

RE: Thread Tooltip Preview
Well, he did not say "do it yourself". He said you were free to add it if you like. He also said that it was up to you to integrate your modifications to his mod. Does it work on the default templates?

Seems fair enough really.
